Vitalant is Arizona’s largest non-profit community blood provider responsible for fulfilling blood needs for 100% of the hospitals in Maricopa County and 90% statewide. Annually, Vitalant supplies patients at the four Scottsdale hospitals with nearly 20,000 lifesaving blood components. Vitalant was named the Scottsdale Chamber of Commerce Sterling Award Non-Profit of the year. Founded in 1943 in Arizona and nationally headquartered in Scottsdale. Vitalant is one of the nation's largest nonprofit blood and biotherapies healthcare organizations, providing hospitals and patients across the U.S. a safe blood supply, specialized laboratory services, transfusion medicine expertise and world-renowned research. Individuals generously donating blood, volunteering and giving financially are essential to our lifesaving mission.
With the opening of the new Scottsdale Central Donation Center in Spring 2025, Vitalant will soon have two Scottsdale area donation centers, and eight Valley-wide, for residents to save lives by giving blood. The Scottsdale Donation Center is conveniently located on the first floor of the Vitalant National Office, located at 9305 E. Via de Ventura.
